When I was in the Navy we had to leave Pearl Harbor because Hurricane Iwa was approaching. I was the helmsman on watch when we encountered the back side of the hurricane and we where recording 40 to 50 foot waves! I will never forget the sight! I was on the Coral Sea and she was a big ship and the waves made us look tiny! The Pacific ocean is no joke! Can't wait for your new website!

A European friend told me that North American is so inhospitable that not one civilization aside from the SW USA existed. I also read that Mayans and Aztecs were basically declining before the Europeans arrived due to severe and expansive drought. Weather has always sucked is my point. lol. Thanks for the forecast. The high of 113 degrees in Abilene, Texas on August 21st set not only a new record high for the month of August, but also the hottest temperature ever recorded. Climate records for Abilene date back to 1886. At San Angelo, Texas the high of 112 degrees today (Aug. 22) set a new record high for the month of August. Climate records for San Angelo date back to 1907. For both Abilene and San Angelo, the previous record high for the month of August was 111 degrees.

Is there any maps that show the accumulated cap in any given area? I swear , my area is capped so often, so tightly, it didmt used to be this way. Inwould see thunderstorms around most summer afternoons, we may have had 10% of the normal.pop up activity this year and its becuass of the unusually strong cap we have at all times here. I just wish its intensity and duration was able to be captured in a chart or graph becuase compared to other places the cap just lives here

Hello have you ever seen a out door Thermosat show a burst of heat, I have one on the porch of my cabin in my back yard and it read 114 yesterday around 5 o'clock im in West Central Texas, Colorado City, Texas to be exact. This heat is totally different from the last 2 years or I'm just getting old, because man it has been hot and it feels different.

fortunately the heat hasn't been stuck all summer in Texas, but Dallas area has been oppressive this week. Heat stress has been real the last few days working outside. We've definitely missed some of the rains in our area, so although the rainfall numbers look "average", we've been between some of the rain events on our property. Hope La Nina leaves us alone.

We literally had a 4 week break from the drought in west central Missouri... and now right back to same old same old grtting missed by everything, capped atmosphere that doesnt allow for pop ups and kills all precip trying to come in We are capped at all times, this region is changing

Very disheartening in ND- finally a summer where drought hasn't ruined our yields, but out of nowhere we've been so cool. Paired with late planting, we are pretty concerned beans and corn won't make it. We need above average temps and no freeze until middle of October at least

Please, please let the trough move off of us in SE Kansas! It simply amazes and depresses me to see ridges always seem to keep us on the edge, even when they move. That makes sense when it seems to rain all around us, but not ON us. We need runoff - we haven’t had significant runoff since May of 2021.

Thanks for everything Eric! I’m 1/4 mile north of Herod Illinois. We’ve had less than .25 inch of rain this month. Storms come and miss. Mostly national forest here but food plots showing a lot of stress. Luckily hasn’t been too warm. But the heat is coming. And the rain is not.

Track weather data every day and we're 236 GDUs behind average here in WCMN. Corn planted last week of April will black layer in early October which is way too close for comfort to average first frost date. Lots of late planted corn in middle and late-May, with too much rain, probably isn't going to make it.
